Role at Hulamin
Richard runs the Coated products business for Hulamin, in the Rolled Products business. This includes responsibility for can end stock and painted products. Richard is also responsible for the communication and investor relations functions at Hulamin.
How has your experience has equipped your role?
I have spent time in a wide range of roles in Rolled Products. These include five years in manufacturing and six years in sales and marketing. This has given me a good perspective on the business and detailed experience in running the operations on a day to day basis.
What is your vision for Hulamin?
I am excited about the future of Hulamin, particularly in a global context. I believe that to be successful, one either has to be a major player with costs competitive with the Chinese or a niche player, such as Hulamin. We thus need to continue to develop our technological competence to stay ahead of the pack.
What challenges do you see having a major impact on Hulamin in the coming years?
I think the dichotomy of global competitiveness and local relevance will continue to be with us for the foreseeable future, and believe that we have the people to be successful in both areas.
Richard is married to Kathy and they have two daughters, Hannah and Abigail. Richard enjoys running and mountain biking, music, golf, and travel.
