How has your experience prepared you for your current role?
I joined Hulamin in 1979, 29years ago after completing my CA exams. Having overseen most of the financial areas of the business, I have been fortunate to have “hands on”experience which has given me a wide breadth of knowledge. This is complimented by having been intimately involved from the onset with all the regulatory, funding, financial, legal and accounting issues in the build up to the listing.
What have been your most significant challenges?
Hulamin has for some years been both a growing and evolving organisation, with fundamental changes having taken place in the last 10 years. My role in the company has also grown and changed and the need to adapt and excel has been tremendously challenging and exciting
What is your vision for Hulamin?
Hulamin has already shown that it has the potential to be a really great company. We just have to continue to make it happen!
What are the major threats to Hulamin’s ongoing prosperity?
Hulamin has succeeded in the past in attracting and retaining highly capable people –doing this in the future will remain a major challenge, especially as South Africa continues to grow.
